INSURANCE INSPECTIONS
Insurance inspections are required by insurance companies to evaluate
the condition of the property for eligibility requirements. They include
Wind Mitigation, Four Point and Roof Certification.
Wind Mitigation Inspections
Wind mitigation inspections are designed to identify potential problems before they become major issues. They involve checking the integrity of roof structures and other building components, such as windows, doors, walls, and skylights. The goal is to prevent damage caused by high winds.
FOUR Point Inspections
A 4-Point Inspection is a basic evaluation of four critical areas of a home—the HVAC systems, the roofing system, the electrical system, and the plumbing system. This inspection is often required by insurers before they’re willing to issue or renew a policy on an older home.
Roof Condition Certification
Citizens insurance now requires roof condition certification inspections or proof of roof replacement upon renewal for homes of certain ages. All roofs must be in good condition with no visible signs of leaks to be eligible for coverage with citizens. Homes over 25 years old with a shingle roof, homes over 50 years old with any other type of roof, and mobile homes over 25 years old must have the roof replaced to be eligible for coverage.
